Countryfest 40 years anniversary !

In 1975 Country Snakes with Lillian Askeland and Ottar Big Hand Johansen recorded the album Vill Vest - Countryfest. Guest artists were Bjøro Håland, Helge Borglund, Gro Anita Schønn and Vidar Lønn-Arnesen. Simoultanesly NRK produced their country music serie Landhandelen (The Country Store) with much of the same repertoire.

Bjøro Håland sang on the first 4 albums. After that he was "replaced" by other barytone singers like Helge Borglund, Carl Hjalmby, Ørnulf Holthe and Gunnar Wiklund.

The Countryfest-serie really did take off selling more than 1/2 million albums in Norway. Some releases even passed the 100.000 mark.
